Tanya Blackburn

Ms. Tanya Blackburn grew up in Radford, a small city in southwestern Virginia. She graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where she received both her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and her Master’s degree in Education. She began her career teaching 7th grade math and Algebra in a middle school in Virginia. Ms. Blackburn moved to Florida in 2009, at which time she taught 6th grade math at a county middle school. Ms. Blackburn was very excited to join the Hillsborough Virtual School faculty in 2010! This year, Ms. Blackburn is teaching Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. In addition to teaching her students, she loves traveling with her husband, spending time with her family, walking for exercise, reading, listening to music, watching various sports (especially baseball - Go Rays!), and going to the beach. Ms. Blackburn was nominated as the 2013-14 Hillsborough Virtual School Teacher of the Year.
